# Proposal Write this so it can be forwarded to someone who was not on the call and still make sense. **The client** - Who they are: [textarea: Company, what they do, size] - What they asked for: [textarea: Their brief, or what was said on the call] - What I think they actually need: [textarea: If it differs, and it usually does] - Who will read this: [textarea: Roles, and who signs it off] **The work** - Deliverables: [textarea: Exactly what they receive] - Timeline: [textarea: Phases and dates] - Explicitly not included: [textarea: The things they will otherwise assume are in scope] - Price and payment structure: [text: Total, deposit, and stages] **The situation** - Competition: [dropdown: Sole supplier, A few others, Formal tender, No idea] - Relationship: [dropdown: Cold, Warm intro, Existing client, They approached me] Open by restating their problem in their own language, so they know they were heard before they reach the number. Show the approach at a level that demonstrates competence without handing over the method. There is a difference between what we will do and how we do it. Make the exclusions unmissable. That section is what prevents the argument in week six. Put the price in context rather than apologising for it, and end with a next step and a date the proposal expires.
