Post-Deploy Canary Watch skill for Claude and Codex
Post-Deploy Canary Watch as an AI skill. It asks for What is being deployed, Normal baseline, Monitoring tools and 3 more, then does the rest. Free to install…
Install it once and Claude or Codex runs it for you. When your request matches, your AI loads the skill, asks for anything it is missing, and works through the template itself. Prefer to fill it in by hand? See the full prompt template.

When it is used
Use when a release is about to go live and the on-call engineer needs a timed watch plan with numeric rollback thresholds for the first hour. Do not use for investigating an outage already in progress or building a monitoring stack. Related topics: devops, technical.
What it will ask you for
- What is being deployed (longer free text)
- Normal baseline (longer free text)
- Monitoring tools (free text, e.g. "Datadog and Sentry")
- Rollout style (choose one: Full release, Canary percentage, Blue green, Feature flag)
- Critical user flows (longer free text)
- Who is on call (free text, e.g. "Role only")
How it works
- Record the baseline for error rate, latency, and traffic that thresholds will be measured against.
- Divide the first hour into four time blocks and assign the signals to check in each.
- Give every signal a warning level and a rollback level as a number against the baseline.
- Add signals specific to the risky parts of this change.
- State who decides on rollback, how to execute it, and the all-clear condition that ends the watch.
What you get
A table of time blocks and signals with warning and rollback thresholds, the change-specific signals, the rollback owner and method, and the all-clear condition.
What it watches out for
- Thresholds without numbers, which turn rollback into a debate under pressure.
- Watching averages when a latency percentile shows the problem.
- Ending the watch on a timer instead of a condition.
How to install
Claude.ai and the Claude desktop app
- Download the skill .zip.
- Open Settings, then Capabilities, and find Skills.
- Choose Upload skill and select the .zip.
- Ask Claude for help with the task. It loads the skill when your request matches.
Claude Code
- Download the skill .zip.
- Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ (or .claude/skills/ inside a project).
- Start a new session. Claude Code loads the skill when your request matches.
Codex
- Download the skill .zip.
- Unzip it into ~/.agents/skills/ (or .agents/skills/ inside a project).
- Codex picks it up on its own. Type $ and the skill name to use it, or just ask for the task.
Cursor
- Download the Cursor rule (.mdc).
- Save it in .cursor/rules/ inside your project.
- Cursor's agent applies the rule when your request matches its description.
AGENTS.md (Codex, Cursor, and other coding agents)
- Copy the AGENTS.md section.
- Paste it into AGENTS.md at the root of your repository, creating the file if needed.
- Coding agents that read AGENTS.md follow it when your request fits.
