Notion Spec to Implementation Plan skill for Claude and Codex
Notion Spec to Implementation Plan as an AI skill. It asks for Spec text, Team and roles, Deadline and 3 more, then does the rest. Free to install in Claude…
Install it once and Claude or Codex runs it for you. When your request matches, your AI loads the skill, asks for anything it is missing, and works through the template itself. Prefer to fill it in by hand? See the full prompt template.

When it is used
Use when a spec document is approved and needs breaking into ordered tasks with owners and checkpoints before engineers begin. Do not use for writing the spec itself or estimating effort without a spec. Related topics: product, coding.
What it will ask you for
- Spec text (longer free text)
- Team and roles (longer free text)
- Deadline (free text, e.g. "Date or none")
- Codebase notes (longer free text)
- Plan granularity (choose one: Milestones only, Milestones and tasks, Tasks with estimates)
- Risk appetite (choose one: Cautious, Balanced, Move fast)
How it works
- Extract every requirement as a numbered line and flag the ones that are vague, missing or in conflict.
- Group the requirements into milestones that each end in a working product, with the thinnest proving slice first.
- Order tasks by dependency with the riskiest unknowns early, and assign each to one named owner.
- Add a checkpoint after each milestone stating what is demonstrated and who approves it.
- Produce the requirement-to-task table plus the assumptions and open questions, so gaps are visible before work begins.
What you get
An ordered plan of milestones, tasks with owners and checkpoints, then assumptions, open questions and a requirement-to-task traceability table.
What it watches out for
- Slicing by layer (database then API then screen), which delays anything demonstrable until the end.
- Assigning one person every task on the critical path, which turns their absence into a missed deadline.
- Silently resolving a contradiction in the spec, so the team builds the wrong half.
How to install
Claude.ai and the Claude desktop app
- Download the skill .zip.
- Open Settings, then Capabilities, and find Skills.
- Choose Upload skill and select the .zip.
- Ask Claude for help with the task. It loads the skill when your request matches.
Claude Code
- Download the skill .zip.
- Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ (or .claude/skills/ inside a project).
- Start a new session. Claude Code loads the skill when your request matches.
Codex
- Download the skill .zip.
- Unzip it into ~/.agents/skills/ (or .agents/skills/ inside a project).
- Codex picks it up on its own. Type $ and the skill name to use it, or just ask for the task.
Cursor
- Download the Cursor rule (.mdc).
- Save it in .cursor/rules/ inside your project.
- Cursor's agent applies the rule when your request matches its description.
AGENTS.md (Codex, Cursor, and other coding agents)
- Copy the AGENTS.md section.
- Paste it into AGENTS.md at the root of your repository, creating the file if needed.
- Coding agents that read AGENTS.md follow it when your request fits.
