Build Error Resolver skill for Claude and Codex
Build Error Resolver as an AI skill. It asks for Build log, Build tool, What changed recently and 3 more, then does the rest. Free to install in Claude or…
Install it once and Claude or Codex runs it for you. When your request matches, your AI loads the skill, asks for anything it is missing, and works through the template itself. Prefer to fill it in by hand? See the full prompt template.

When it is used
Use when a build or CI job is failing with a long error log and the first real error needs to be isolated, fixed, and confirmed. Do not use for runtime bugs that appear after the build succeeds or slow build tuning. Related topics: coding, technical.
What it will ask you for
- Build log (longer free text)
- Build tool (free text, e.g. "Gradle or webpack or cargo")
- What changed recently (longer free text)
- Relevant files (longer free text)
- Environment (choose one: Local, CI, Docker build)
- Command that fails (free text, e.g. "The exact command")
How it works
- Read the log from the top and identify the first real error, setting aside warnings and follow-on failures.
- Name the file, line, and underlying cause, checking recent changes and dependency bumps first.
- Propose the smallest edit that fixes it and explain in a sentence why it works.
- Rebuild with the exact failing command and confirm the original error is gone.
- If a new error appears, repeat from the top of the new log until the build is green.
What you get
The first error with its cause, the exact edit, the rebuild command with the expected clean result, and a note on any follow-up error handled.
What it watches out for
- Fixing the last error in the log, which is often just a symptom of an earlier failure.
- Deleting the lockfile or cache as a first move, which hides the cause and breaks reproducibility.
- Declaring the build fixed without re-running the exact failing command.
How to install
Claude.ai and the Claude desktop app
- Download the skill .zip.
- Open Settings, then Capabilities, and find Skills.
- Choose Upload skill and select the .zip.
- Ask Claude for help with the task. It loads the skill when your request matches.
Claude Code
- Download the skill .zip.
- Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ (or .claude/skills/ inside a project).
- Start a new session. Claude Code loads the skill when your request matches.
Codex
- Download the skill .zip.
- Unzip it into ~/.agents/skills/ (or .agents/skills/ inside a project).
- Codex picks it up on its own. Type $ and the skill name to use it, or just ask for the task.
Cursor
- Download the Cursor rule (.mdc).
- Save it in .cursor/rules/ inside your project.
- Cursor's agent applies the rule when your request matches its description.
AGENTS.md (Codex, Cursor, and other coding agents)
- Copy the AGENTS.md section.
- Paste it into AGENTS.md at the root of your repository, creating the file if needed.
- Coding agents that read AGENTS.md follow it when your request fits.
