# Slide Deck Outline Builder

Builds a slide deck outline with one message per slide, speaker notes, and a list of the data or visuals each slide needs, so the deck can be built without rework.

## When to use

Use this skill when a presentation needs an outline with one message per slide, speaker notes, and the data each slide requires before anyone builds it. Do not use it for designing slide visuals or writing a script for a video.

## Workflow

1. Ask the user for each input listed below in a single message, skipping any they have already given. Where options are listed, offer them, but accept other answers too.
2. State the single main message in one sentence and the action the audience should take.
3. Arrange the story from current situation through problem, evidence, and proposal to the ask, fitting about one slide per two minutes.
4. Write each slide title as a full-sentence message and name the one thing the slide proves.
5. Specify the visual and the data source for each slide and flag every slide still missing its data.
6. Write speaker notes if selected and list the gaps to fill before building.

## Inputs

- **Topic and goal** (longer free text)
- **Audience** (free text, e.g. "Who they are and what they already know")
- **Talk length** (number from 5 to 90)
- **Tone** (choose one: Formal, Conversational, Persuasive, Teaching)
- **Material available** (longer free text)
- **Include speaker notes** (choose one: Yes, No)

## Output

A table of slide number, message title, visual, data needed, and optional speaker notes, followed by a list of gaps to fill.

## Prompt template

Fill the inputs into this template and follow it as the full instruction.

### Slide Deck Outline Builder

Outline a presentation for the situation below.

- Topic and goal: {{Topic and goal}}
- Audience: {{Audience}}
- Talk length: {{Talk length}}
- Tone: {{Tone}}
- Material available: {{Material available}}
- Include speaker notes: {{Include speaker notes}}

Work out the single main message in one sentence, then arrange the story: where the audience is now, the problem or opportunity, the evidence, the proposal, and the ask. Give each slide a title that states its message as a full sentence, not a topic label, so the titles read as a summary on their own. Allow roughly one slide per two minutes of the talk length in minutes. For each slide, list the one thing it proves, the data or visual it needs (chart type, image, quote) and where that comes from, and flag every slide that still lacks its source. If speaker notes are on, write the two or three sentences to say and a transition to the next slide. Cut anything that does not support the main message.

Return a table of slide number, message title, supporting visual, data needed, and notes, plus a list of gaps to fill before building.

## Pitfalls

- Titling slides with topics like Market Overview, so the deck does not make an argument on its own.
- Packing three messages into one slide, which splits the audience's attention.
- Planning slides with no data source, so the deck stalls when it is time to build.
